²³ “From this man’s descendants, God has fulfilled his promise by raising up for Israel a savior, Jesus. ²⁴ Prior to his coming, John had already proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. ²⁵ And as John was nearing the end of his work, he said, ‘I am not the one you believe me to be. One is coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to unfasten.’
